Today, a bit of shameless self-promotion:
At Empax we’re first and foremost visual problem solvers, but in this case our client specifically asked us to work on naming first.
Joshua Venture Group is the updated name we developed for a newly revived funder of innovative contemporary Jewish social entrepreneurs. Their former name was Joshua Venture, which we all agreed lacked strength and closure. Since this client takes the notion of social entrepreneurship very seriously, we thought that a name that might mistake them as a for-profit venture capital firm would work in their favor.
During the course of visual brainstorming, we looked at a lot of Joshua images. Joshua was the successor of Moses and led the Israelites into the Promised Land. This was the original image we had to work with – footprints denoting the crossing. Joshua’s previous gig, however, was as a spy whom Moses sent to scope out the land the people would eventually (re)inhabit. Joshua and his spy-mate, Caleb, brought back with them a bunch of grapes the size of watermelons, leading some of the naysayers to remark about those living in the land that “They might be giants”. Ring a bell?
We here at Empax are proud and excited to announce the launch of Joshua Venture Group’s new brand and website. They were, for us, a dream client – smart, plugged-in and appreciative of what we bring to the table. We know that their efforts will yield lots of, well, fruit.
